Technology has been at the forefront in the fight against Covid-19, presenting an opportunity to encourage innovation for a more inclusive environment. Together with Fintech, digitization has shown during this crisis that it plays an essential role in the post-Covid-19 world.

Ecommerce platform company, SourceSage, recognized the need to help SMEs create entire ecommerce and retail ecosystems for them to succeed amidst the pandemic. By providing procurement and distribution services for both MNCs and SMEs, SourceSage takes pride in being the intermediary that bridges merchants’ barriers to access, with the goal of accelerating the transaction process. SourceSage aims to empower enterprises and individuals with their own platforms to start, grow and scale their businesses online successfully and their various aggregated platforms now engage more than 7000 merchants from over 14 countries, and are populated now with more than 50,000 products.

For many companies, it all came down to strategy and proper guidance. European furniture giant, Chateau Italia, is one such company. With a vast clientele worldwide and multiple large scale government projects with IRAS (Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore), DSTA (Defence, Science & Technology Authority) in Singapore, Chateau Italia formed Melandas Online to reach out to the local B2C community. The lack of expertise and resources however, caused them to face great difficulty scaling their business online and the company hence reached out to SourceSage.

Solution

By leveraging SourceSage’s Online Store Builder to revamp their outdated website, they were able to create a new and modern storefront that provides buyers with a seamless online shopping experience.

Post integration, SourceSage continues to engage with Chateau Italia to help drive transactions online. This includes sponsoring marketing campaigns and promotions as well as liaising with the SFIC (Singapore Furniture Industries Council) to help integrate a virtual showroom with Melandas Online, creating a more interactive buying experience.

Results

Leveraging on Chateau Italia’s reputation, Melandas’s online brand presence has grown significantly since the revamp, with page views and online enquiries doubling month-on-month.

Online sales are also growing at 40% monthly, and Chateau Italia now has the confidence to scale their e-commerce business. “We have faith in SourceSage and will continue to work closely with them to grow our online business,” Elsen says. Chateau Italia has since begun to utilise their online store to run multiple advertisements, and have seen fruitful results.

Through SourceSage, Chateau Italia managed to bolster their existing operations by building an additional sales channel to complement its traditional brick and mortar business.
